Christmas Markets?

a strange request to the folk of England and beyond

i have some land and a camp site and reindeer and i would like to put on a christmas fair (next year onviously). someone has told me there are 'middle men' or women i'm sure that sort it out pay you a little and arrive with a market. i understand that it's not quite that easy but i can't find any contacts. the site is great. 28 acres of cheshire country side, loads of parking, reindeer walking around, great road access, i think it would look the part. any ideas of how to contact the middle men/women.

Hi ChesterMatt

Sounds like an exciting idea!

I reckon you need to find a good event management company to set this up for you. Might be worth having a chat with your local authority or Business Link to see if they can point you in the right direction?

Let us know how you get on...

Applause

another thing you could consider is seeing if you can take your reindeer to an existing Xmas market. Are your reindeer well-behaved?

You will need permission to run the market, so check up on that. Markets are liable to disrupt traffic and your place might be deemed unfit to hold one. Or there may be other grounds (no pun intended) on which to refuse you. Fire Appliance/Ambulance accessibility, etc.

Middle men/women. Yes, well we know who be rubbing their hands together.

Once you've got the planning business out of the way, approach your local/and not so local stall holders and tell them of your thoughts and plans for next year. Ask them for business cards/whatever and jog their memory a few weeks in advance of the market.

You will find a write-up in the local press will stimulate a good response and I think you could get free publicity out of the story, so get in touch with them.
